Samita Fletcher
Senior Lawyer

“Anyone can give up; it is the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone would expect you to fall apart, now that is true strength” - Chris Bradford

Samita was admitted to practice in 2017 after completing a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business at Victoria University in 2015. In 2021, she successfully completed a Master of Applied Law (Family Law) and obtained a Master of Laws through the College of Law.

Since joining D & M Lawyers, Samita has practiced primarily in family law. Her key strengths as a family lawyer lie in her passion for assisting people and meeting her clients’ needs with an empathetic and respectful approach. Samita combines this with her candidly honest advice, which is appreciated by her clients.

Samita has in-depth knowledge of the complexities that arise from separation. She enjoys applying her analytical mind to complex cases involving international issues, high net worth assets and difficult parenting arrangements.

Samita is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for her clients, placing a significant emphasis on negotiated resolutions. She is an excellent negotiator and communicator. Samita seeks to resolve her clients’ matters amicably without the need for costly litigation. However, if that fails, she is a brilliant advocate for her clients. Samita’s pragmatic and meticulous approach to legal problems has ensured that her clients feel comfortable and confident with her abilities. Over the years, Samita has volunteered at Whittlesea Community Legal Centre and Salvation Army.

Outside of work, Samita enjoys managing an active social life. She enjoys travelling, going to live music gigs, and immersing herself in Melbourne’s restaurant dining scene.

Samita is currently on maternity leave.
